eating turkey in st. louis
so this week has been so crazy. i ended up going to go to st. louis with the rest of my family. it’s sort of a tradition in the moscoso family to meet in st. louis at my aunts house. so my dad and his 4 sisters, all of their kids, and their spouses come to a small, warm welcoming house, which is something i look forward to every year.
so we arrived in st. louis, early before everyone, except my grandparents. and no one knew we were coming because we didn’t really have the money. but my cousin, annalise, came up with the idea of giving us, her free tickets from traveling so much.
so we were at the front door, and my grandma answered the door, and she screamed at the front door for 2 minutes straight in awe that we were here. my grandpa even cried because he was so happy. he’s just one of those bug teddy bears. the same day, my aunt and her new hubby came, and they weren’t surprised because, well they found out. then everyone else came, and were surpirised, and hugs went around everywhere, and everyone had a great time.
so we celebrated thanksgiving, as we always do, which a bunch of loud filipino people, and the occasional white spouse. in the morning we always do the turkey trot, which is either a 3 mile run, or a 6 mile. i walked the 3 mile with my aunts, so it wasn’t really that bad. it was nice just talking to them. but it was really scary because we were walking past this cluster of people, and this man was on the ground, his mouth bleeding, and he was unconcious, but breathing. i coundn’t contain myself, so i tried walking faster so i wouldn’t have to see him anymore. you just don’t know how scary that is, just walking by someone who’s loosing blood by the second. but at night, there was a bunch of cooking, and there was a huge amount of food, and of course pie.
so my family on my dad’s side is huge, and i love all of them. they’re so fun to be around. so at night, all of the cousins who were 10 and up, slept in the basement. 3 people on the pull out, which included me, 2 on the blow up matress, 1 on the couch, and 1 on the recliner.
out of all my cousins, i’m closest to annalise and ben, who i shared the pull out with. i really love spending time with them, more than anyone else, not to make anyone feel bad. we are always together. i really wish i could stay there longer. i miss them so much right now.
but today, sadly, we had to journey our way home, to get used to yet another time change. so all of the cousins tried to pull an all nighter, but we failed. but the 3 cousins, who are always together, made it the latest. i think about 3. and i woke up at 4:30 to leave. we flew on 4 planes all together today, just to get home from st. louis to orange county. i am exhausted right now.
i would report everything that happened, but i’m being distracted by the show Jon and Kate + 8.
oh, it snowed in denver while we were waiting on the plane to get off, and pull into the gate.
i guess it’s time to close. christmas is the next big occasion. grandpa is coming.
hope you had a great turkey day. :)
